The Small Business Owner’s Guide to Getting Organised

Running your own business is exciting until the admin starts piling up. One minute you’re focused on your craft, and the next you’re knee-deep in emails, chasing invoices, and trying to remember where you wrote that client’s phone number. Sound familiar?

Here’s the thing: staying organised doesn’t mean you need colour-coded spreadsheets and a label maker. You just need a few simple habits that work for you and your business.

Here are my favourite low-stress ways to get organised:

Use a Digital To-Do List

Apps like Trello, Asana, or ClickUp help you organise your day without needing a notebook jungle. Keep it simple: daily tasks, weekly goals, and space to brain-dump ideas.

Time-Block Your Week

Set chunks of time for different types of work. Emails in the morning, client work after lunch, and admin on Fridays, for example. You’ll be amazed how much calmer your week feels.

Automate What You Can

Invoices, appointment bookings, and social media scheduling can all be automated. One less thing to worry about!

Get Support

You don’t have to do it all. Outsourcing even a few hours a week can lift a huge weight off your shoulders. A virtual assistant (hi!) can help manage the bits you don’t love, so you can focus on what you do best.

Getting organised is less about perfection and more about progress. If you feel like your business is running you instead of the other way around, I’d love to help.
