Let's Talk About the Elephant in the Search Bar
If you’ve noticed a drop in your website traffic lately, you’re not alone and no, you’re not imagining things. For years, blogging has been the go-to way to boost SEO, drive traffic, and showcase your expertise. But lately, the question is: “Is blogging dead?”

What’s Changed?
In the past, people would type a question into Google, scroll through the search results, and click on a blog that promised to have the answer. But now? Google often gives them the answer straight away with its shiny new AI-generated summaries sitting at the very top of the results page.
This means fewer people are clicking through to actual websites. In fact, studies show that organic search traffic is down across the board. Users are getting what they need from that AI box and bouncing before they even see your carefully crafted headline.
For bloggers, marketers, and small businesses alike, that’s a bit gutting.
So... Is Blogging Pointless Now?
Not quite.
Yes, the goalposts have moved. But blogging isn’t dead, it’s evolving. Here’s how:
Authority still matters. Google’s AI is trained using quality content from reliable sources. That includes your blog. So even if it’s not bringing in traffic directly, your content still helps shape what shows up in those AI answers.
People still want depth. AI summaries are great for quick answers, but when someone wants a how-to, personal story, product review, or detailed explanation, they’ll still click. That’s where your blog wins.
It feeds your whole content strategy. Blog posts can be turned into email content, social media posts, lead magnets, and more. One solid blog = multiple pieces of content.
It helps your website get found. While overall traffic may be lower, your blog still boosts SEO. Especially if you’re targeting long-tail keywords or local searches.

Time to Blog Smarter, Not Harder
If you’re going to keep blogging (and I’d argue you should), it’s time to switch up your strategy:
✅ Focus on quality over quantity
✅ Answer real, specific questions your audience is actually asking
✅ Create content that goes deeper than a quick AI snippet ever could
✅ Don’t rely on traffic alone, use your blog to build trust, collect leads, and showcase your expertise
Blogging isn't dead. But the old way of blogging, churning out keyword-stuffed posts and hoping for clicks, is. The landscape has changed, and we’ve got to change with it.
So write for humans. Solve problems. Tell stories. Share your expertise. Because while the robots might win at fast answers, they’ll never beat your voice, your experience, or the connection you can build with real readers.
